Archived: Time to Say Goodbye to 2008

The New Year can’t come too soon. This is a year to which many people will be happy to say goodbye and good riddance. The year-old recession has taken a toll on this country’s optimistic can do attitude.

Today as we celebrate Christmas, and for the many celebrating Hannakuh we need to take time to count our blessings and pray for those who have suffered the loss or homes and jobs and a safe retirement.

So now that Christmas is almost a memory, and 2008 is nearly over, let’s hope 2009 will be kinder to our frayed nerves.

From the EGP family of newspapers and all our staff, we wish you and yours a safe and happy holiday. Please remember, it’s never a good idea to drink and drive.
