Archived: Editorial: Notable Eastern Group Publications Anniversaries

We are proud to announce that this week, Eastern Group Publications reaches a new milestone: 30 years of publishing local community news in Los Angeles County. Since 1979, EGP newspapers have been serving communities and cities in east, northeast and southeast Los Angeles County.

On our first anniversary, the EGP group consisted of seven community newspapers and boasted circulation of 27,000 copies. During the past 30 years our group of newspapers has grown to include 11 newspapers and a circulation of 103,000 door-to-door and newsstand distribution, with thousands more reading us online. Over the  years we have covered some of the most important issues in these diverse communities, including education, transportation, the economy and crime, as well as the local human interest stories that represent the very life of these same communities.

And with this edition, Eastern Group Publication’s Vernon Sun, the baby of our group of newspapers, celebrates its first birthday.

The newspaper, added to provide contiguous coverage of the areas we reach with our family of newspapers, and to the people who work and live there, is now distributed to employees at local businesses, as well as to city residents and employees.

At a time when many see newspapers as dead or dying, we are proud that we continue to garner support from our long-time readers and attract a new audience of readers meeting us for the first time.

This fact tells us that Americans do read when they respect and trust news and information you provide.
