Few people today lived through the Great Depression that overwhelmed our country’s economic fortunes.
To many people today, these past two years, and especially this year, have been the worst economic time they have ever endured.
With the local unemployment numbers now in the double digits, millions of homes in foreclosure and thousands of homeless families, it may be hard to see how we can bring ourselves to wish others a Merry Christmas. Still, in all this misery, there are those who set aside their own troubles to care for others.
Hundreds of charities and people have contributed time, energy, funds and personal effort to bring Christmas joy to others.
Eastern Group Publications was able to contribute toys to Salazar Park’s annual volunteers luncheon and toy distribution.
Charities such as Volunteers of America, Toys for Tots, The Sunshine Mission, local business chambers of commerce and other service organizations helped poor children, poor families, the elderly and local food pantries. As a result, many in need will be able to have and celebrate a happy Christmas.
We believe the ability to empathize with others, especially when we ourselves have less than we are accustomed to, is a true sign of our character.
In this spirit, the management and staff of Eastern Group Publications wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas.
