11am—Veterans Day Salute at Cypress Park. Honor all those who have served their country in any branch of the U.S. military. The ceremony salutes local veterans—living and deceased. Location: 690 Cypress Avenue. For more info, email delsback90065@cs.com

 

Sunday, Nov. 9

11am–9th Annual NELA (Northeast Los Angeles) Veterans Day Parade& Celebration. Event begins with a Solemn Ceremony at Eagle Rock City Hall. Parade starts at 1pm at York Blvd & Ave 45, continues east on York to the Veterans Memorial at York and Figueroa in Highland Park.  2pm–Veterans Day Program at Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library.  The Historical Society of Monterey Park and the American Legion Post 397 will present guest speakers and an exhibit honoring all veterans. Library is located at 318 S. Ramona Ave. For info, call (626)307-1368.

 

Tuesday, Nov. 11

10am—Commerce Annual Veterans Day Ceremony. Free services and programs for the veterans and their families. Participants include Walgreens, who will offer free flu shots to all Veterans with a VA card and to residents with a Medicare or prescription usage card.  The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) will accept applications for their Electrical Training Institute which is located in the City of Commerce as well as for their very successful “Veterans to Work” program. Habitat for Humanity of Los Angeles will provide information about their free “Veterans Home Repair” program as well as their homeownership and youth programs. And the “Hook-up Resource Center” will be on hand to connect Veterans with other organizations that provide information about services including pensions, medical benefits, claims assistance and employment services. Location: Veterans Memorial Park.

 10-11am—Veterans Day Ceremony at Cinco Puntos in East Los Angeles. Veterans organizations invite all veterans and their families to a ceremony to honor all veterans. Special presentation by the Garfield JROTC. Location: All Wars Memorial at Cinco Puntos in Boyle Heights, 3300 E. Cesar Chavez Ave. For more information, call Tony Zapata (323) 261-8533.

 11am–Veterans Day Program at Montebello City Park. Join the ceremony that will honor veterans. Park is located at 1301 W. Whittier Blvd. For info, call (323) 887-4576.

11am–Monterey Park Veterans Day Ceremony. City officials will honor those who have served in the US armed forces. Event will be held in front of city hall located at 320 W. Newmark Ave. For info, call (626) 307-1388.
