The world’s Christians and Jews will celebrate two important religious observations starting tomorrow.
Christians believe God allowed his only Son, Jesus Christ, to be crucified for their salvation.
Good Friday begins the greatest of Christian observances that culminates with Easter Sunday, when Christians celebrate their belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The eight-day Jewish celebration of Passover also starts Friday, concluding on April 11. The ritual-rich festivities commemorate the Exodus, God’s liberation of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt and their starting of a new nation in the time of Moses.
Today, there are those who view all religions with distrust and see those who exercise their faith as dangerous and not to be tolerated.
But as we enter this important time of year for those who are religious, it is important to remember that this country was born out of religious persecution and the desire for freedom of religion.
EGP celebrates this freedom as one of the most important tenets of our democracy.
We wish these two communities a Peaceful and Happy Easter and Passover Season.Posted - Copyright © 2022 Eastern Group Publications, Inc.
